About the Site

This power station uses vertical lift conveyors to deliver bulk coal. At Huaneng Shantou Power Plant, QBF rubber replaced German brand sidewall belts, making us China’s first manufacturer to achieve full localisation for this type of sidewall conveyor belt.

Key Site Problems

• Long time operation caused cracking and damage to belt skirts, cleats and bases. Standard domestic replacement parts deformed under load. Distorted cleats scraped return rollers and triggered frequent unplanned shutdowns.
• One premium imported European belt failed only 3 months after installation, with constant cleat base peeling at joints. Overseas vendor support was unavailable, and local importers had no effective repair capacity. Simple in house maintenance could not fix the faults.
• Repeated breakdowns disrupted coal supply, increased maintenance work and operational costs. The plant needed a trustworthy local alternative instead of relying fully on overseas imports.

Our Solution

Our engineers inspected site equipment, actual throughput and working conditions to develop a custom solution.

We adopted European standard cleats and bases for better impact resistance and minimal deformation.

Advanced hot vulcanising technology was applied to produce the sidewall conveyor belt.

Complete custom design through final delivery was finished within a tight 3 month timeline.

Project Results

Cleat deformation and roller scraping issues were mostly resolved, with greatly improved impact resistance.

Cleat and base service life is 2 3 times longer than conventional domestic spare parts.

Reduced dependence on slow response imported belts. Localised production shortened lead times and cut O&M costs.

Vertical coal handling conveyors run more stably, securing stable coal supply for power generation.
