Cleated Conveyor Belt

A cleated conveyor belt is a purpose-built industrial belt designed specifically for inclined and steep-angle material transport. Unlike standard flat conveyor belts that struggle with sliding and back-rolling materials on slopes, this anti-backslide belt features raised cleats bonded or vulcanized onto the belt surface to hold bulk solids, granular materials and packaged goods firmly in place.

Product Overview

Many field engineers cooperate with our factory to solve typical conveying pain points including material reflux, low throughput and unstable line operation on inclined and steep angle conveyor systems.

Types & Industrial Specifications

Different conveying angles, material textures and load weights require matching cleat profiles and base belt materials. We classify our inclined cleated conveyor belts by cleat geometry and base compound material, helping buyers and on site engineers select the most cost effective configuration for their projects.

Cleat Profile Types for Different Angles

  • T Cleat Conveyor Belt: Straight vertical cleats deliver stable load support and simple daily cleaning. This is our most popular solution for general inclined conveying below 30°. It fits grains, plastic parts, fine particles and medium weight bulk materials.
  • L Cleat Conveyor Belt: Right angle structured cleats offer improved lateral stability under high speed running conditions. It works well for small cartons, packaged goods and lightweight bulk materials that tend to shift sideways during transport.
  • Chevron V Cleat Belt: Staggered V shaped cleats disperse material pressure and prevent material backflow for wet, sticky and damp feed such as soil, sand, fresh fruits and damp grains. It supports steep conveying angles up to 40° (for non sharp abrasive wet granular materials), where ordinary flat belts cannot function normally.
  • Custom Wave & Partition Cleats: For vertical elevators and ultra steep conveying lines, we fabricate high baffle cleats, spaced partition cleats and wave sidewall cleats to minimize material leakage and overflow.

Practical Advantages on Production Lines

From plant operation and procurement perspectives, our custom cleated conveyor belts resolve long term operational problems that standard flat belts cannot handle.

  1. Eliminate Material Backflow: Precisely engineered cleat geometry locks materials on inclined slopes. It stops repeated material return and greatly improves overall production line throughput.
  2. Wide Site Compatibility: Multiple compound formulas support low temperature freezing workshops, high temperature drying tunnels, oily food processing zones and corrosive chemical working environments.
  3. Reduced Downtime & Maintenance: Integral vulcanized or high strength bonded cleats resist cleat falling off and cracking under continuous load. It cuts frequent belt replacement and unplanned machine downtime.
  4. Good Equipment Compatibility: Standard and custom dimensions fit most mainstream conveyor frame models. Factories can replace old belts without large scale modification to existing equipment.

Applications

Cleated conveyor belts are critical components for automated production lines that require inclined or high angle material elevation.

  • Food and Beverage Industry: Incline conveying for fruits, vegetables, frozen food, baked goods and granular food raw materials with strict hygiene requirements.
  • Agricultural Processing: Sorting and elevating grains, nuts, potatoes and animal feed for indoor and outdoor processing plants.
  • Mining and Construction: Transport sand, gravel, coal and cement raw materials with strong abrasion resistance and impact resistance.
  • Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sector: Convey granular chemical feedstock and pharmaceutical raw materials with anti corrosion and easy to clean properties.
  • Electronics & Hardware Manufacturing: Elevate small components, plastic parts and hardware accessories without material slipping or missing parts.

FAQ

Q1: When should I choose a cleated conveyor belt instead of a flat belt?

Select cleated belts when your conveying angle exceeds 10 15°, or when granular, loose or slippery materials keep sliding backward. Flat belts are only suitable for horizontal or ultra low angle transportation. Cleated belts are purpose built for inclined lifting and steep angle conveying scenarios.

Q2: Which cleat type performs best for steep angle conveying?

For conveying angles over 30°, chevron V cleats deliver the most stable performance thanks to staggered pressure dispersion. For heavy bulk materials, higher size T cleats with increased height bring better carrying capacity. For small packaged goods, L cleats effectively prevent lateral material shifting.

Q3: Why is my cleated conveyor belt still experiencing material slipping?

Most slipping troubles are caused by improperly selected cleat height, insufficient belt tension, worn surface rubber layer or overly slippery processed materials. We offer professional parameter matching based on your material particle size, moisture level and conveyor inclination angle to resolve slipping risks.

Q4: Can cleated conveyor belts be supplied in endless seamless form?

Yes. We manufacture seamless endless cleated conveyor belts for high speed automated production lines. Endless belts avoid joint bounce, running vibration and premature wear caused by traditional mechanical or glued joints.

Q5: Are there operating limits for cleated conveyor belts?

Cleated belts cannot completely stop material roll back for extremely fluid fine powder. Under such conditions, sidewall plus partition combined structure will be recommended instead of simple cleated belts.

QBF rubber&MONSHTECH at China-ASEAN Mining Forum 2026 | Booth B052, Nanning

out 30, 2026

See you in Nanning. The 14th China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum kicks off November 6–8 at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center. We’re taking booth B052. MONSHTECH — the bulk-handling brand we run under QBF rubber — will have our core conveyor lineup on the stand. Why this forum, why now. Southeast Asian miners keep coming back to Nanning because it’s the one event where Chinese conveyor builders, EPC houses and the operators themselves end up in the same room. So we’re not flying out just for banners. We want to talk through actual projects. What we usually end up fixing on site. Walk onto a mine and the same three problems show up. Routes that snake across hills and ravines — trucking that ore gets expensive fast, and one rainy season wrecks the budget. Vertical lifts. Open-pit benches and underground shafts don’t play nice with a flat belt; you need something that holds material on a 40–60° incline. And dust. Coarse, abrasive rock leaking at every transfer point — environmental teams aren’t forgiving about that anymore. Our product line answers those three directly. Ropetrackand overland conveyors take the load off trucks across broken ground. Sidewallconveyor belts, sandwich belts and internal pocket belts handle the lift. Pipe conveyors and continuous ship loaders close the loop from concentrator to port, with far less spillage. What’s on the stand at B052. ROPE-TRACK sidewall conveyor belt. Pipe conveyor belt. Open-pit and underground steep-angle belts. Underground internal bucket lift. Concentrator steep-angle belts. Sandwich belts. Continuous ship-loader sidewall units. Stackers and reclaimers for mine and port yards. We scope single machines, system integration, and full EPC. Front-end survey up front, then supply, install, commission — and we don’t disappear after handover. Maintenance and upgrades are part of the deal.   If you’ve got a layout on your laptop, a site brief on your phone, or just a rough tonnage and a lift number — come find us. The engineers on stand will run through it with you: tonnage, material size, lift angle, route profile, power budget. Most of the mines we chat with leave with a haulage option that costs less than the truck-plus-standard-belt default they walked in with. Tunnel Shield Project | QBF rubber Anti-stick Sidewall Conveyor Belt Installation Service Delivered

out 20, 2026

Recently, the engineering service team from QBF rubber was dispatched to a tunnel project site and successfully completed on-site installation guidance for the sidewall conveyor belt. Supported by one-stop full-process technical services, the project’s conveying equipment achieved stable commissioning and high-efficiency operation. Tunnel construction presents tough site conditions, featuring steep conveying angles and considerable risks of material back-sliding and spillage. Breaking away from the traditional product-only supply model, QBF rubber provides a full-chain custom service package for this project. The service scope includes preliminary site survey, working-condition analysis, custom belt selection and design, bespoke belt manufacturing, on-site hot-splicing joint execution and full-cycle installation technical guidance. This complete set of services fully meets the operational demands of steep-angle material handling for tunnel construction. Shield tunnel jobs have tight working spaces, limited on-site manoeuvring, high muck volumes and wet excavated spoil. These conditions commonly cause spoil and fines to stick and pile up on conveyor belts. For this project, QBF rubber Anti-stick Sidewall Conveyor Belt was selected to tackle such field-proven issues. The belt’s special surface treatment resists sticking and enables good self-cleaning capability. It keeps damp tunnel muck and fine sand from clinging to the belt surface, helping avoid common problems triggered by material build-up: belt mis-tracking, slippage, faster-than-normal wear and reduced conveying capacity. Built with heavy-duty sidewalls and cleats, the belt is robust in structure, offers high tensile properties and holds up well against abrasion. It runs reliably for both vertical and steep inclined conveying work, cutting down significantly on material fallback, spillage and leakage. This brings tangible savings in on-site cleaning work and lowers the frequency of equipment maintenance. Having expanded from standalone product supply to end-to-end technical services, QBF rubber keeps addressing practical tunnel conveying challenges through professional, custom-built solutions. Moving ahead, QBF rubber will keep focusing on shield-tunnel muck transport and steep-angle material handling applications. Continuous upgrades to product performance and service frameworks will deliver reliable support for the efficient, eco-friendly and safe running of more engineering projects.
